Alan Sugar and YouView

YouView.com starts this month.

Its a box that costs £299 so you can get BBC and ITV via the net.

He claims in his interview [LINK] that no service is like this. So clearly he has not done a quick Google as he would have found tvcatchup.com, a FREE and online service to watch all the stations.

Well done Alan Sugar, I am sure people will spend £299 on a box?????

Its not even wi-fi, so you have to plug your cable into it?

They must think its 2001 not 2012. Today you would expect it to be wi-fi and to be able to use on most devices such as your phone and tablet computer.

I just cannot see many people spending £299 on a box. If it was £30 and wi-fi then yes it may sell.

The thing is, you can buy a blu-ray player with net connection for under £100. You can get an Ipad from under £300. You can get a laptop for under £300. So why would you buy one of these boxes. Why do they just simply not stream the TV online and thus mean that its live for many people. But as I say tvcatchup.com is free and has many stations on it.

I suspect they will end up giving the boxes away free. Even free I wonder how many will bother to link up using a cable.
